Esmero Kennel
Esmero Kennel is located in Kuopio in FNLAND and is dedicated to breeding Spanish Water Dogs, with a strong emphasis on health, breed-typical characteristics, and a joyful, outgoing temperament. Our primary goal is to raise dogs that are beloved family members while also excelling as companions for hobbies and work.
We are a kennel that ensures puppies get a safe and nurturing start in life. Our breeding philosophy is founded on love and deep respect for this unique breed.
Our breeding and development work is a team effort, and we are grateful to all the devoted families of our dogs who care for them with love and commitment.
Esmero Kennel was honored with the 1st place Breeder of the Year award in 2023, and in 2024, we proudly secured 2nd place!

Considering a puppy?
Our dogs have balanced temperaments and breed-typical traits. We focus on raising puppies that are open in temperament and healthy.
All dogs at Esmero Kennel are carefully selected for breeding. They undergo thorough health screenings, are well-trained, and lead active lives, ensuring their physical and mental well-being.
Puppies are raised in a loving and safe environment in our home, where they are gradually accustomed to various sounds, people, and situations.
I look for homes for the puppies that understand the specific characteristics of the Spanish Water Dog breed, as well as the requirements for their training and socialization. It is also important for families to appreciate the significance of the breed-specific PEVISA health screenings (a program to prevent hereditary defects and diseases) when acquiring a puppy, and to continue health testing their dog when the time comes. I hope to find active and social homes where the dog can engage in activities suited to its nature and be a beloved member of the family.
When a puppy leaves for its new home, it comes with:
A puppy folder containing feeding and care instructions
The registration certificate (Finnish Kennel Club)
Puppy food and supplies (toys, chews, etc.)
The puppies have always undergone veterinary check-ups and microchipping, and they are socialized in a loving family environment in our home to ensure the best possible start.

I have been a breeder of Spanish Water Dogs since 2015 and have fallen in love with this wonderful breed!
I actively participate in dog shows, rally obedience, and other activities with my dogs. We attend dog shows both in Finland and abroad. Every year, we also aim to take part in show tours in the breed’s native countries, Spain and Portugal.
Currently, I run a business in the canine industry. I operate a dog training company under the name EsmeroKoulutukset and own the Savo Dog Supplies store located north of Kuopio in Toivala, within the Koiraurheilukeskus Savo facility. I offer grooming services and serve as an official microchip implanter certified by the Finnish Kennel Club. Entrepreneurship allows me to fully dedicate myself to breeding and caring for the puppies with the utmost attention.
